If you know me, you know I love cooking and baking. Cooking for me is very therapeutic, and it allows me to learn new strategies and improve every time I do it. Since I have been here, I have cooked small meals at my apartment, but I have been waiting to learn how to make authentic Italian cuisine so I can make more Italian dishes at home. The Rossopommodoro, which translated to the Red Tomato, restaurant is where we had our cooking class. We were taught by the house chef, who spoke no English. We learned how to make and cut pasta from scratch and we made our own tiramisu. The type of pasta we made was called scialatielli pasta, and it was served with red sauce, eggplant and pesto. Before coming to Rome I was a very picky eater, but I told myself that I would try at least six new foods. Trying this pasta was new to me, but I was not afraid to like I would have been in the US. I think that Italy is giving me a newfound sense of boldness and willingness to try new things, which I like. This was one of the most enjoyable extra curricular I have experienced to date, and I wish there was a culinary class I could take to have this experience again with different foods.
Scialatielli Pasta
My personal tiramisu(VERY light on the coffee infusion, heavy on the mascarpone!)
Cooking certificate(I have a feeling we were supposed to be making pizza...)
Posing with our creations. We got to keep the aprons as souvenirs as well!
Playing around with the pasta :)
