Today was my first extra curricular trip I took with CIEE. We went to Santa Severa beach and it was nothing short of amazing. It was a burning hot day and the forecast was clear, so it was the perfect combination. Upon arriving to the beach I immediately made myself comfortable. I laid down on my beach towel and laid in the sun. Men were walking around selling bracelets, sunglasses, waterproof phone pouches and other things. I bought a few items and then made my way into the water. There were huge waves crashing against boulders, allowing people who got close enough to get a refreshing flow of water. I played volleyball with a few of the CIEE students, and then went to enjoy the view and serenity from on top of the boulders. I had two piña coladas while I was there. This was my first sign that Italian bartenders are NOT shy with alcohol. My hair peaked many people's curiosity on this trip. One of my CIEE peers asked me could I get my hair wet or would it mess it up. The bartender reached out to touch the one loose strand I had hanging on the side of my face, and then got offended when I stepped back and put my hand up to block her. All in all, I really enjoyed the company of my peers and the experience I had on the beach.
